Looking for Spare Parts for Your Scalextric Cars?

It is inevitable with slot car racing that your pride and joy is going to get damaged at some point so Scalextric produce a wide range of spare parts for their recent models. They also produce a range of parts for tuning you slot car such as silicone tyres and a wide range of gearing options to help you achieve faster lap times.

Scalextric spare parts are available for all recent car releases up to about 5 years in age. The spares are all sold at a reasonable price which helps keep your car in tip top condition. They produce a PDF service sheet for each car that is simple to use and each service sheet will show the breakdown of parts that can be purchased for each individual model.

Scalextric spares all start with the prefix code “W” These parts can only be purchased from Scalextric service dealers many of these dealers can either be found locally using the Scalextric store locator on their website or from many internet retailers. Due to the vast number of parts not many retailers will hold all items in stock. Scalextric are not the fastest at supplying the part to retailers but you should expect delivery in about 10-21 days if the item is in stock. With the range of spares available it is possible to use many of the spares to create custom cars by simply purchasing a chassis and running gear then you can select a suitable car body. This allows you to create a completely different car that cannot be found anywhere on the market.

A small range of Scalextric parts can be purchased from retailers all starting with the prefix “C” These parts are the tuning parts that can help improve the speed of cars around your track. The easiest option is to add silicone tyres to your car and you will find that the extra grip will make a huge difference to whatever car you are racing. Other tuning parts are gears and motors. The mistake many people make when wanting to improve the speed of the car is to fit the highest revving motor in their car but you will find that the 30K motor is only suitable for speed records and it will not provide the necessary torque for racing around most home tracks. We would normally recommend keeping the motor speed under 25K for home racing and even some large layouts as gearing can be changed if necessary to improve either acceleration or top speed. If you are changing the motor on your car you may well find that you will need a sports gear puller to fit the pinions or gear in the correct position but this tool is fairly cheap to purchase and will make gear changes a simple operation.

Many other companies do provide a range of tuning parts for the popular Scalextric cars such as Slot. It who manufacture high quality metal gears and copper braids to help current pick up from your track. Slot.it also sells a range of high power motors that will surpass any motor that Scalextric supply. Higher torque will power your cars to tops speed in a far shorter time than the Scalextric motor range. Other options are the upgrade of magnets on your car Slot.it produce a range of magnets that all offer something different and higher levels of grip on the corners. We know that magnet racing is not for everyone but it does allow further improvements in lap times.

If you are a keen racer then upgrades will be what you are looking for and there is a big range of supplies available to anyone who is looking to reduce their lap times. Slot car spares can be confusing but with the right advice and some tweaking you will be able to improve you cars and reduce your lap times up to 25-30% with the correct set up.
